Springhill PRCA Rodeo

The 65th Annual Springhill PRCA Rodeo, Louisiana's oldest rodeo, has been around since 1951.This is rodeo at its finest! Opening ceremonies are 7:30 p.m. The rodeo will be held at 8 p.m. nightly. Thursday is Family Night, with admission costs for the night $12 for adults and free for children under 12. Friday and Saturday admission is $12 adults and $10 for children under 12. Saturday is the Trail Ride. Festivities start at 7 a.m. and the parade is 10 a.m. there will be a steak cook-off at Piggly Wiggly and fun at Muddy Bottoms ATV & Recreation Park. Vintage Car Club Shine and Bike Show

The Vintage Car Club of Minden hosts the 2016 Car and Bike Show is co-sponsored by Minden Main Street and the Webster Parish Convention and Visitors Bureau. This year’s event will line the brick streets of Minden with more than 50 Corvettes. Two local groups, Sport City Corvette Club and the Red River Corvette Club, will also participate in the show. Judging begins at 10 a.m.; no entries after 11 a.m. Trophies will be presented at 2 p.m. The Vintage Car Club boasts one of the largest trophy presentations in the Ark-La-Tex. Club President Wayne Edwards reported more than 180 cars and bikes registered with hundreds in attendance at last year’s show. Bring the family out for food, fun and entertainment. Heflin Sawmill Festival

Heflin Sawmill Festival will be held in Heflin, Louisiana. This event will feature store vendors, food booths and arts and crafts. The Heflin Sawmill Festival will start with a 5K Fun Run at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10. There will be fun for all ages throughout the day, with vendors, arts and crafts, food, karaoke, 50/50 raffle and a $100 gift card raffle. Covered wagon rides include a lesson on the history of Heflin during the sawmill days. There will also be tours of the 80-year-old Heflin United Methodist Church that was built from wood hand-picked by the Pace brothers, owners of the Pace Sawmill. The annual Heflin Sawmill Festival Beauty Pageant will be held at the Lakeside School Gym that morning starting at 10 a.m. The new 2015 Miss Heflin Sawmill will receive a $400 scholarship. Admission to the beauty pageant will be $3. All winners will be present on the karaoke stage later that day. New to the festival this year will be a chili cook-off. First prize is $100, second $50 and third $25. All are churches, fire and police departments are encouraged to enter. Any and all candidates for office are welcome. There is no entry fee. A flea market area will be open to the public for anyone to set up. The Village of Heflin will have Heflin School memorabilia for sale. At the end of the day, a live concert will be held at the Donnie Nelson Memorial Ball Field. Everyone is welcome to come out, bring your own lawn chairs and enjoy an evening of great music.
